Bindings and Hanging Sleeves
The best ways to finish and display your quilts
Description
The final steps of quilt making are often the least liked step. How many of us have quilted quilts waiting for that very last step? In this class students will learn 3 methods of binding quilts and 3 methods of creating hanging sleeves. Students will learn how to cut and prepare their binding, how to machine sew the binding to one side and how to machine and hand sew the binding to the other side of the quilt. Students will also learn how to add a facing to their quilt. Students will learn the whys and hows of creating 3 different methods for hanging their quilts. Students are asked to bring: - 3 quilted placemats (12" x 18") or 3 small (12" x 12" minimum) layered and quilted samples. - 0.25 meter (full width of fabric) for binding and hanging sleeves for each quilt sample. - hand sewing supplies - Sewing machine in good working order with ALL attachments and instruction manual - Basic sewing kit including thread.
